Commonweal School Radio

Is currently only being broadcast once a month on Swindon 105.5

Commonweal School Radio is a fun and educational station and is the work of the young people from concept to delivery. The aims are as follows:-
  • To facilitate learning across the school
  • To increase confidence and ability in the spoken word
  • To learn about how a radio station works
  • To promote team building
  • To feed into Swindon Community Radio who are our partners
  • To inform our localised community ( school) on events and school news

Shows are broadcast on Monday, Wednesday and Friday lunchtimes.

Our relationship with Swindon 105.5 is as strong as ever, and every fortnight, students are taken to the studios (based in the old BBC suite at the Swindon Town Football ground) and present their own shows. This takes the form of either formal chat style programs or specialised editions such as the poetry and serialised drama shows.

In the new term a Writers Club will begin, and hopes to create further episodes of ‘Commonweal School Investigations’ and other performance pieces.

As a Performing Arts School, the radio facility is being introduced across the curriculum and investigating avenues of use for as many subjects as possible.
