Yr 9 Reggae Project

As part of our commitment to Artsmark Gold this project involved the whole of Yr 9 in a day
of Reggae workshops held in the Music Depart on 24th January. It also tied in with schemes
of work.

Delivered in-house by the students learnt about key components of Reggae music and researched into the culture of Rastafarianism.

The students recorded their own compositions and performed some of them in school assemblies.

Project aims:

  • To provide an understanding of Reggae music and Rastafarianism.
  • To increase confidence, technical ability and showmanship.
  • Team work
  • Global citizenship issues
  • The characteristics of a riff
  • How to use chords
  • Ability follows enthusiasm
