The Mayor’s Smile Concert at the Wyvern Theatre on Friday 21st January saw some stunning performances from the community. The event was organised by the Swindon Advertiser and they hope to stage the event again next year. We were honoured to be asked to participate and our new super group, 'The Stellars,' Maddie Gill, Didem Gormus, Alice Baker, Becky Pour, sang and danced their hearts out.

Two excellent teams of poets, Joe Staddon, Adam Pearce,
Carli Green, Matthew Booth,
Megan Bryan, Libby Griffiths
Holly Roberts, Amber Kamugisha performed their winning poems that bought them to fame as previous winners in the SFL Youth Poetry Slam. Many thanks to them all and to the teachers who provided the coaching.

"This was a fantastic event and I have received many emails and letters from people who attended the concert to say what a wonderful time they had.

Here we had a fantastic showcase for Swindon's entertainers and I was delighted to to have Commonweal and Isambard schools working together to put on a fantastic performance of music, dance and poetry.

We managed to raise several thousands of pounds for the three Mayoral charities; Prospect Hospice, Willows Counselling Service and the Children's Cancer & Leukaemia Movement. But, above all, the concert put a smile on people's faces, which was what the concert was all about," said Dave King, the newspaper’s editor and the school’s patron.
