Swindon Big Arts Day
Swindon Big Arts Day was probably the biggest event the borough organised this year and was overseen by Helen Miah, Swindon Borough Council's Cultural Manager. I was on the steering group for this event and we decided to fund the Youth Music Tent where rock bands and musicians from across the town could showcase their talents.
This was aided by Swindon Music Services Paul Ashman who runs their Rock School. Paul, myself and Nick Weaver managed the tent which was pretty much full all day. Thanks to Andy Mitchell and Tony Smith for their help in setting up.
This was just one element of a huge event that took over Lydiard Park culminating with a Arts Council projection installation at dusk onto Lydiard House. A high profile and highly successful day! Swindon has much to offer in the arts and I was very proud that our school was able to add to the day. Josie Williams, Community Arts Development Officer |
