The Phoenix Project - Commonweal
This disability arts project began in October 2009 and is offered free of charge by our community partners Reach Inclusive Arts. The three participating schools are Crowdy’s Hill, Uplands and Commonweal. Each school will receive 9 drama sessions with two arts workers plus two members from the disability Partners Theatre Company, culminating with a performance at The Wyvern Theatre in February 2010. Commonweal drama teacher and PSHE and Citizenship co-ordinator Debs Browning has been instrumental in identifying students and setting up the workshops in school, liaising with SENCo Steve Coward.

The overall theme is Inclusivity and each school is invited to interpret in their own fashion. We have three groups comprised of peer educators, students appearing on the SEN register for varying reasons (physically Impaired  students, students with hearing impairments, students with dyslexia or seen to be at risk of dyslexia, students with English as an Additional Language, students with specific learning difficulties and moderate learning difficulties.
