Dans Connect

In May 30 dancers from the year groups had the opportunity to go down to Swindon Dance Studios and take part in a workshop with professional choreographer Merville Jones.

The students then watched a selection of performances including 'Download' which explored the internet and computer game phenomenon. This was an abstract contemporary piece that tackled issues around the new information age and the effects and influences it has on young people.

''Toyz', choreographed by local legend Banxy, was an energetic street dance piece about toys and what they get up to when we are not around. Most probably inspired by the muscial Tom Thumb.

"Wow, wow, wow! Dans Connect are fantastic! They were really inspiring and the energy they had throughout the performance was great to watch! I thought that the workshop we took part in with Merville Jones and Tina Marsh was full of different styles that I hadn't ever participated in before.

"However, I think that the workshop wasn't long enough to show our full potential. Plus, I would've liked to a better questions and answer session with the dancer who performed. Overall I think it was a great day and I would recommend it to anyone interested in dance. I now feel excited to go and carry on in my own dance training," Alice Baker, 8W1
