Big State Work Experience
Once again our business partners, Big State Theatre Company, provided an excellent work experience week with 15 of our Year 10. This was held at the Wyvern Theatre, our community partners, who gave us the opportunity to use the space. The performance on the Friday evening was funny, slick and a joy to watch. We hope to showcase the group to Year 8 before we break for summer.

It was a very good and rewarding experience. On the first day we all got together and chatted about what type of performance we wanted to do.We all decided on a comedy! Then we split into 3 groups to discuss individual ideas about the storyline of the show! We all decided on a comedy musical, which would be the backstage story of a TV show, like Britain’s Got Talent, but based on Swindon. We went out and filmed some people and asked them questions about their feelings about Swindon, and got some very interesting results! We then came up with the story line.
The show was about a janitor, called Patrick, who auditions for the show, but doesn’t get through. He is however, hired to be the janitor. He is very jealous of the main stars, so he talks to his only friend, Norman the gnome. Norman then gives him the idea to get revenge! The main stars don’t fall for his tricks, so his plan is ruined. He does however, jeopardise the opening night of the musical and bursts in half way and starts singing his own song. The audience absolutely love him and he becomes the star! The week was an absolute success, a truly amazing work experience and I would highly recommend it!
