Big Sing

On 27th November over 100 students from our school choirs joined thousands of schools from around the country to take part in the Big Sing. This was a successful attempt to break the Guinness World Record for children all singing at the same time. In 2005 the  world record was 293,978 children and this year the record was broken with one million children all singing via video links with pop star Des’ree who sang ‘You Gotta Be’ live from the O2 Arena in London. Each student paid £1 to take part and the funds went to charities Youth Music, CLIC and Marie Curie cancer care.

“The music department never cease to amaze me. The sheer amount of concerts and the  effort that the teachers and the students put in to providing entertainment for the community is just brilliant. Ali Sutcliffe, head of music is just one in a million and we are very fortunate to have her on the performing arts team,” Josie Williams, Community Arts Development Officer.
