Alfresco Americana

The annual PTA/ Headteacher's summer event was this year themed on America's Independence Day. The 4th of July event was aptly named Alfresco Americana.

"As Keith said all along..... "the sun will shine" and it certainly did! Parents, staff and students worked hard to pull off yet another performing arts event featuring many music and dance items from the recently performed 'Evening of Broadway.'

The BBQ burgers and drinks were well earned after the staff v parents baseball match that kick-started the afternoon and having the Swindon Big Band playing really gave the afternoon a special feel. I have had many positive comments about the day and people particularly enjoyed seeing our very own Headteacher performing a specially written American themed set with his band 'Honeymoon Spaghetti'! Well done to all those who performed," Mrs Sutcliffe, Head of Music.

The day also saw the launch of the Yr 11 art exhibition which was attended by the Mayor and his lady wife. Click here to see the virtual gallery.

"I had some lovely comments not just from parents, but from people in the community who thoroughly enjoyed another successful event at Commonweal. Once again I am extremely grateful to all those who helped make the day another huge success, particularly our PTA, staff and students who  gave freely of their time to make it happen," Keith Defter, Headteacher.

"Many thanks to everyone, we have raised nearly £800! Thanks to all who came along to support the school and the PTA, everyone who went had a really good afternoon," Erica Ford Chair of PTA.
