Creative Lighting Workshop

All Yr 10 GCSE Drama Students took part in a morning technical lighting workshop with professional lighting engineer and director
John Watson.

John demystified the art of lighting and encouraged the students to actively take part by helping him to construct a replica model of a stage based on Covent Garden Opera House, complete with lighting rig.

The students learnt about the use of lights such as Floods, Fresnels and Profiles. They used Gobos lights and experimented with their use
in different situations and the effects they
can create.

This will help them with their GCSE coursework when they have to act out and light their
own work.

"A fascinating experience. A truly insightful journey into the delectable world of stage lighting," Tom Dickinson 10SA1.

"The workshop was just brilliant, we hope to have John back every year," Commented Keith Defter, the Head and drama teacher.
