The
Commonweal School's first ever Inter-house Music Competition. This
exciting event culminated on the evening of Wednesday 29th June when finalists
from the heats went forward to win a top prize of £50 of music/DVD vouchers,
awarded to the best overall performance. Vouchers were also awarded to runners
up. The Inter-house Music Competition Cup was given to the highest scoring House.
Any style, any format from soloist to
ensembles the only criteria was that groups had to stay in the same House. The
event was a great success and the young people were very supportive of all the
acts irrespective of ability or House. For
some this was the first time they had performed in public and it was encouraging
to see them taking up the challenge and enjoying themselves. Helen
Pysanczyn, Head of Swindon Music Service, adjudicated and gave positive feedback
and was very encouraging. Winner
of the House Cup was Whitehorse with 169 points, 2nd were Ridgeway with 146 points,
3rd were Stonehenge with 137 points and forth were Sarum with 127 points. Ist
prize of £50 of HMV vouchers was won by James Daubney from Whitehorse for his
