The Swindon Mela

Year 10 Commonweal girls created a dance for the Swindon Mela which was staged at The Town Gardens on 30th July.

The dance routine brings together traditional Indian dance with Western Contemporary Dance and was largely conceived by Ravneek Bains a Year 10. The girls rehearsed this as an extra curricular activity, Year ten Dance Club, and wish to perform as and when opportunities arise. The girls call themselves 'East Meets West Dance Troupe,'

Sue Derrick, Head of Expressive Arts, has offered advice and support but hasn't spoon fed them thus allowing the girls to experiment and devise their own creative expression.
