Dance programme of study KS2

Students should:

  • Make dances with clear beginnings, middles and ends involving improvising, exploring and refining content, and sometimes incorporating other aspects of the curriculum.
  • Be given opportunities to increase the range and complexity of body actions, including step patterns and use of body parts.
  • Be guided to enrich their movements by varying shape, size, direction, levels, tension and continuity.
  • Respond to a range of stimuli, express feelings, moods and ideas and create simple characters and narratives through dance.
  • Describe and interpret different elements of a dance.
