Let
it rock baby!
Commonweal
School rocked last week ( March 16th) when seven bands competed in the school's
Battle of the Bands. Compere was Amber Phillips.
The
evening saw over 30 students from across the year groups (11- 15 year olds) play
original and cover songs in order to enhance the students performance skills and
raise £200 for the Red Cross' work in the third world.
The
concert was a sell out and the young people had a brilliant time. Commented Josie
Williams, the school's Community Arts Development Officer, " The standards were
high and judging by myself and teachers Mr. Coward and Mrs. Smith was not an easy
task. The bands rehearsed at sessions after school and techniques were delivered
by our satellite partners Swindon Rock School."
The
winners were The 10 - 4's who shook the house down with a mean version of The
Ramones song, Blitzkrieg.
