Swindon Music Festival
Amongst the winning
entries at the 2006 festival were Tom Wakelam. Tom played (on the violin)
Romanze by Johan Svendsen. Comments by the adjudicator included, "Wow!",
"captured the attention of the audience", "fantastic tone
in the lower range", and "like to hear the piece played with an
orchestra".
The other pupils who entered performed extremely well. They were both year
10, Cheryl Loxton, singing "Lift the Wings" by Bill Whelan and
Adam Wiltshire playing jazz piano, "Try a Little Tenderness" by
Harry Woods, Jimmy Campbell, and Reg Connelly.
