The school corridors have been
transformed into an art gallery to show off the work of GCSE Yr 11 students,
CAOS Youth and teachers canvases. All the piece are professionally mounted
and parents remarked on the high standard of work
and presentation.
The exhibition was officially opened
by Swindon Advertiser editor Mark Waldron who is a patron of the school. After
opening the event he presented his Editor's Choice Award to the work of Alison
Sinclair who had created a series of pictures of a breaking wave.
The 16 year old's exam question
was based on the movement of water and she drew her inspiration from Japanese
artist Hokusai, whose well known work include pictures of towering waves with
Mount Fuji in the background." I couldn't believe that my picture had
been selected for Editor's Choice!" She said.
The editor was amazed by the standard
of work on show. "It wasn't just a case of one or two pieces standing
out, the standard of work was consistently high wherever you looked. Picking
out just one piece was probably the hardest thing I will do this week."
Tara Parker, Head of Art, handed
out commendations to four students to recognise their talents and reflect
the effort they have put into their two -year course. The winners were Hannah
Grant, Huw O'Leary, Lorna Smith and Gus Winter. |
