Family Sundays
This is a pilot project to provide ‘Arts’ for our extended community. Six local families over three generations took part in Commonweal School’s first Family Sunday held at the school on 20th November. The following Sunday of this particular project attracted another five families. The concept behind the pilot is the brainchild of the school’s Community Arts Development Officer Josie Williams. “Life in the noughties is fast paced and sometimes it is hard to spend time as a family. I remember when I was a child spending quality time together on a Sunday afternoon with Mum & Dad and Gran. We played games, went for walks and Gran use to tell us stories of life in her day. Then of course there was Sunday tea, jelly, ice cream and cakes. The aim of these family days is to give families the opportunity to spend more time together.”

The workshops were working towards digital artworks which will adorn the Old Police Station in town once the hoardings are erected. The theme of the workshops is culture through the ages. The workshop was delivered by Dave Marlow and was funded by the South West Regional Development Agency and supported by the New Swindon Company and Swindon Borough Council’s Art Service.
